Gastrointestinal DisordersPresenting Complaints & History
- Burning pain in the chest and throat (heartburn)
- Sour regurgitation, especially when lying down
- Chronic morning dry cough and throat irritation
- Stomach bloating and heavy gas
Clinical Assessment
A 52-year-old bank manager from Thalikulam presenting with chronic acid reflux and chest burning. He had taken daily PPIs (omeprazole) for 5 years. Attempts to stop PPIs resulted in rebound severe burning and coughing. Previous endoscopy showed esophagitis.
Homeopathic Therapeutics & Management
Constitutional analysis focused on his chronic work stress, sedentary habits, dependency on tea, and reflux worse at night. A gradual tapering plan off PPIs was introduced alongside homeopathic remedies. After 1 Month: Reflux severity reduced; PPI dose halved. After 3 Months: PPI discontinued; chest burning resolved. After 6 Months: Dry cough and throat clearing resolved. One Year Follow-up: Reflux-free without PPIs.
